Martine Aubry, when wishing the press a “Happy New Year” early in January, evoked the topic of the next edition of Lille 3000 in 2014-2015: « French Renaissance ». The mayor of Lille insisted that “It’s just an idea”… but anyone stupid enough in her entourage not to find it brilliant risks being seen in a very bad light… As an appetiser, and to facilitate the work of Didier Fusilier, Director of the Cultural Programme for Lille 3000 (and to help you with your CV applications), DailyNord reveals the upcoming events.
For the opening ceremony, a cortege, comprising the richest families of the region (Mulliez, Verspieren…) with Gérard Depardieu, disguised as Christopher Columbus, at its head, will leave Néchin on foot to march to Lille via Roubaix, Mons-en-Baroeul and Fives. At each stage of the walk, which will be called “Discovery of a new world: that of the poor”, the long-term unemployed – disguised as Indians – will try to share their daily experiences with the most prominent families, who, in turn, will try to preach the ethical value of work to the Indians. Once in front of the Lille-Flandres railway station, Gérard Depardieu will kneel down thereby giving the starting signal that the “French Renaissance” festivities are officially under way.
All along the Lille river, four stately homes will be built: « Chti’non », « Mazette le Rideau », « Chambortjevlesh » and « Amboise un petit coup c’est agréable ». [French puns!] Constructed by international architects, these edifices blending blue stone from Avesnois and red brick will welcome temporary exhibitions of modern artists most in vogue (Ninette Rodonowicz and Gus Yokama’s names have already been mentioned). The buildings will then be transformed into cultural diffusion centres with a budget of 10,000 Euros per month for 5 employees.
A part of the events budget will be allocated to naming the Grande Stadium, which will obviously still not have a name. The enclosure will be named «de Vinci » after the universal genius and Renaissance symbol.Eiffage are already planning to dispute the case in court. An enormous fresco of Sandro Fricadelli’s [pun] reinterpretation of the Last Supper with the LOSC players sitting with Rudi Garcia in the middle will be displayed on the stadium wall.
We thought they were finished, has-beens. Making the best of it in their demarcated spaces, former glories of local politics, wearing hose and ruffs around their necks; they will tout their political programmes before the visitors. Alex Türk, Colette Codacionni and Alain Bienvenu have already applied. The highspot of the exhibition? A comprehensive retrospective of Pierre Mauroy’s speeches. Duration of the event: 378,785 hours
After Eurasanté and Euratechnologies, a hub dedicated to new printing methods will be inaugurated in the Pilaterie industrial zone of Mons-en-Baroeul. Works that have contributed to forging a European identity will be displayed in the midst of rotary presses. A northern bible, the best ever articles printed in Nord Eclair since 1944, will roll off the presses to be handed out to exhibition visitors.
