Lille 3000: DailyNord reveals the French Renaissance programme in an exclusive article!

Martine Aubry, when wishing the press a "Happy New Year" early in January, evoked the topic of the next edition of Lille 3000 in 2014-2015: « French Renaissance ». The mayor of Lille insisted that “It's just an idea”… but anyone stupid enough in her entourage not to find it brilliant risks being seen in a very bad light... As an appetiser, and to facilitate the work of Didier Fusilier, Director of the Cultural Programme for Lille 3000 (and to help you with your CV applications), DailyNord reveals the upcoming events.

Exclusive: David Beckham at Lille Olympique Sporting Club (LOSC)!

Don't confuse exclusive and official. Only the suggestion is exclusive here (as far as we know). David Beckham playing for the 'Dogues' (a 'mastiff' is the LOSC logo) is not such a stupid idea after all. Pity that the Spice boy signed for Qatar Saint-Germain (oops, Paris Saint-Germain) for us to have such an idea. Because DailyNord is convinced that there was some good regional publicity to be had. With a juicy return on the investment.

Political dynasties (2) : When the Republic becomes a monarchy

And if politics were more a question of genes rather than election? It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that our region is teeming with examples of sons, cousins and spouses of... that've been squatting the Nord - Pas-de-Calais corridors of power for years. The second part of our special investigation, hot on the heels of economic dynasties (part 1).

The Florence Cassez affair: After her welcome home celebration…a cold shower for Flo?

It's over! In a mad mediatised melee, Florence Cassez has left her Mexican prison and celebrated her return to France. Without wanting to be a party pooper, her return does raise one or two questions like... innocent or not? Why was she released? Have the politicians gone over the top? Has the Voix du Nord (a local pay-for newspaper) lost its head?

Football: The end of a LOSC

Football: The end of a LOSC

In 8th position in the French Premier League, being unceremoniously eliminated from the Champions League, their top player enticed to cross the English Channel, and a club up for sale, the second half of the 2012 season will be no walk in the park for the LOSC who seem to have run out of steam. Things seem stacked up against them.

Can't say we didn't tell you: we're going to ram the North of France down your throats this week. DailyNord is running a series of articles on the famous mining area. The Louvre in Lens… everyone’s been talking about it since 2003. The sceptics even said that we wouldn't get to see it in a month of Sundays. But they were wrong. Ok, so when it comes to the Louvre at Lens, you’ve lost the plot? You've forgotten what it's all about? We've made it simple for you: the Louvre explained away in 5 questions for Dummies.

France or Belgium: Which country is cheapest three and a half years on ?

Each time cigarette prices go up, it’s the same old story. Viewings shoot up of our article published in 2009, France or Belgium: which country is cheapest? Three and a half years on, we wanted to know if the differences in prices had increased or decreased. Or even if the price advantages had upped and moved from one country to the other. Manuel Gros: The Stadium Lawyer… and lots more

Manuel Gros: The Stadium Lawyer… and lots more

A few weeks ago, he made a comeback: Manuel Gros, a lawyer specializing in public law, managed to obtain the suspension of subsidies from the Nord-Pas de Calais Regional Council to the Bollaert Stadium. We now hold our breath as we wait for the final decision, which could cause a tsunami in the financial world of stadiums. Manuel Gros knows a thing or two about stadiums: legal representative for 'Save the Citadel' that led to the stillbirth of Grimonprez-Jooris II, he has also defended the interests of Elisa in the construction of Lille's Grande Stadium as well as the interests of Valenciennes Metropole with regard to the Hainaut Stadium. With such a pedigree, he deserves to have his portrait painted.
